Mommy and Me Infant Groups

Parent and Me Toddler Labs

Come for the parent education, stay for the community support. Your village is waiting to be created, and at BabySpace Coachella Valley, your group is formed based on the age/adjusted age of your baby so that you are with moms who are going through the same developmental stages together.

Your growth as a mother is as important to support as that of your baby, and by attending groups with the same moms and babies each week, you will form friendships and develop a support network for both you and your infant.

What Happens at a BabySpace Coachella Valley Mommy and Me Group?

Groups are a mix of facilitated information sharing, infant observation, collective learning and village creating.

Weekly topics include but are not limited to:

  • the rhythms and routines of infant days,

  • infant cues,

  • bonding,

  • feeding,

  • adjustment to motherhood and postpartum life,

  • sleep routines,

  • relationships post-baby,

  • return to paid work.

Infants are welcomed into the playroom with the knowledge that the room will develop as they do, addressing their biological, social-emotional, and motor development. Week by week you will watch your baby grow among their peers, observing and finding each other, learning the beginnings of play, and developing close bonds with all of the moms and babies in group.

What Does It Cost to Attend?

Groups are determined based on the age/adjusted age of the infant. Groups meet weekly and participants pay for a cycle of four weeks. These cycles do not always link up to a calendar month, but after each four week group cycle completes, the next cycle begins. Each cycle of four group sessions is $140 and is payable regardless of attendance. Participants can decide to continue or leave at any time, but if a group is full and a waitlist has been formed, then a waitlist participant may prevent a mom from rejoining her baby’s age cohort. Infant groups continue until most of the babies are 18 months old.

What About Toddlers?

Toddler Labs Are For Children 19 mos to 3 years old

Toddlers need space to learn, grow and play, too! BabySpace Coachella Valley Toddler Labs are designed to support parents as their children move away from infancy and towards the preschool years, recognizing there is a lot of development and change that happens in that time!

Why Was BabySpace Coachella Valley Created?

In 2008, BabySpace Coachella Valley Founder Lauren Fox, LCSW, observed the varied experiences that several friends had during their postpartum period and transition to new motherhood. After appreciating the gift of being close to these mothers during such an intimate time and recognizing the importance of community to aid in the adjustment, Lauren shifted from working with mothers and their elementary school aged children to working with mothers and their children in the zero to three population. She ran groups for local non-profits and within her home as she waited for the right time to open an in-person location. The dream of BabySpace was a zygote that grew as the years progressed and, post-pandemic, is being birthed in the Coachella Valley. Lauren is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive training in perinatal mental health as well as infant-parent mental health. She dedicates her practice exclusively to assisting individuals, families, and groups in providing support for new parents and their families.
